3 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE PURCHASING DIY WEDDING FLOWERS

1. WHAT IS MY FLOWER BUDGET?

If you're looking for fresh flowers, there's no better way to save money than by creating your own arrangements with bulk flowers. There's a few options on how you want to do that. But if you're looking to invest in florist grade flowers, and save valuable time on navigating the entire floral industry's contribution to YouTube, Lily on the Thames provides hands-down the best packages for DIY flowers, recipes and tutorials. You will save up to half the cost of your wedding flowers by using a DIY option, and with our packages you also save tons of time. All your tools, recipes, and simple video tutorials are provided so you can grab a glass of wine and a few friends and start creating your own wedding bouquet.

2. WHO WILL COME TO MY FLOWER PARTY?

You will likely already know who exactly you can see making these arrangements with you. Some people are worried their friends aren't creative or into crafting. Let me tell you-  that's TOTALLY FINE. Flowers are beautiful in nature, so they will be beautiful in your arrangements!  As long as you follow the video tutorials for flower prep and care you will do just fine.

My suggestion for who do to this with is not even the most crafty of friends (although they certainly help boost confidence!), but the person you want in the room with you is the fun friend. The one who will lighten the mood, turn on the tunes, and dance with you as you create. THAT's the vibe I picture for all my brides.

If you're more on the quiet side, and would enjoy some calming time crafting, then choose the friend who will give you that vibe. It's all about you, and what you want for your wedding week!

A misconception I like to clear up to potential clients is the bride always has to be a part of the creating process. Some people feel like it's just not in the timeline they have planned out. I guarantee you there's people in your life who desperately want to be a part of your wedding, but they just don't know where they fit in. This is an opportunity to show someone they're special to you, and you trust them, and you can let go of the reins a bit to allow them to be a part of your special day. I could go on and on about how many mothers and MIL's do the flowers for their kids and they send me little notes afterwards explaining how special it was for them!

3. WHEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO CREATE THIS?

Plan out when and where. You want to create on NON CARPETED areas. A garage is perfect. You can make a mess and then just sweep it up later! Nothing too hot or too cold (a heated garage in the winter, or a non-sweltering hot garage in the summer). You want to have somewhere to store your flowers that's air conditioned in the summer, or not freezing temps in the winter. Are you understanding me here, non-extremes! I'm all about the elaborate dancing, and elaborate dessert tables - but please oh please don't leave your flowers in the hot sun.Now that my rant on that is over, have a timeline on who will be where, and when. A solid plan is going to help it feel organized and expectations for you and your helpers met. For a more detailed timeline on what to expect, click here .

I hope this helps you make a more confident decision on your DIY wedding flower package. It's so much fun, it just requires a little planning! For a complete list of our available flower packages click here .
